Mechele Armstrong |
Once upon a time there was a girl who liked to write. She wrote poetry and short stories, and when she wasn’t writing, she was making adventures with her stuffed animal collection, the soap in the tub, and even the crayons in her crayon box. In college, though she had another major, she started working on a novel. She entered a couple of contests and even went to a writing seminar for a week. Then, she hit a wall where she didn’t write anything, not even poetry for a long, long time.
She and her family went away to the beach for a week. The beach was stocked with romance novels, which she hadn’t read in a long, long time (since she’d stopped writing). She devoured a half dozen of them that week. And started to think, “I could write these…” The first book, a romance was finished in six weeks. The romances whetted her appetite for more and she ended up reading Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Night Pleasures and finding some other writers who were fans of Kenyon. And she learned about writing.
The book she started back in college became a romance and finally ended. And it sold to Loose Id.
And that’s how Mechele Armstrong was born.
It took several random moments to lead to over twenty published novel and novellas. I’ve always been amazed by that. What if the beach house hadn’t stocked books? What if the family hadn’t let me read that weekend? What if I hadn’t picked up Night Pleasures?
A moment really can change a life. It did mine.
Take a moment and come to The Regency Square book signing! Because you never know when a moment can change your life.
